2008 Accomplishments

Norman, OK Nov 15-16, 2008
Tate & Beth attended the Central Oklahoma Golden Retriever Club's Specialty. Janet and Brenda were there and did a lovely job (as always) and it was so much fun to get to spend a little time with them! Tate earned his first UDX leg on Saturday and placed third in Utility and fourth in Open (small classes but between Brenda, Janet, and Helen it was great to place!). Sunday he missed a signal in Utility (Brenda says I flashed my signal, so I must have done so) but did everything else. In Open we got third place with a 196.5. The whole weekend Tate was fun fun fun to show!!! He acted like he had rocket fuel in his system, and it was super fun to show him!
Way to go Tate & Beth!
Bounder & Janet  - Bounder had great attitude both days. They got 2nd to Pounce in Utility on Saturday, and 3rd to Pounce and Honey in Open. Janet said she loved the way he was working!  Sunday started out great, and was almost their best run in Utility, but Bounder only went part way down on the signal drop. The problem held over into Open where he failed to drop on the recall.   Hmmmm.......
Chase & Janet were in the Veteran’s obedience class on Saturday and won the class of four dogs!!! Not bad for a MACH girl who hasn’t been in the obedience ring since she finished her UDX back in 2005 maybe!!!  The show site provided great opportunities for training Tempi too.

Wichita, KS Nov 8-9, 2008
Danny & Vicki had a great weekend.  Danny was movin on out!  The courses were fun and we all so enjoyed them. Danny gathered a 3rd in Std and a 4th in jumpers and a QQ, qualifying 3 out of 4 times!!
Bounder & Janet & Chase & Janet all QQ'd on Saturday, and both Q’d in Jumpers on Sunday. Bounder had three placements and Chase one in the always competitive 20” class. Great weekend.
Nash & Linda qualified in Jumpers and brought home a 4th place as well as in their standard run on Sunday with a 2nd place.  They had one bobble in their Saturday standard run to cause groans from the crowd and an NQ.  Nice runs!
Brook & Jim  - Brook was a speedster again ... she was fast, smooth and efficient. Unfortunately, she thought efficient meant leaving a few contacts too early. She qualified in JWW both days with 4th place on Saturday. She is having so much fun running agility. Speedy McGreedy......

Columbia, MO Nov 1-2, 2008
Nash (24") & Brook (20") both QQ'd on Saturday (yea). Nash got 1st in JWW (with 5 other qualifiers) and 3rd in Std (with several other qualifiers). Brook got 2nd in JWW. On Sunday Nash NQNQ'd ... Linda said he came with her when she started her front cross too soon in JWW (her fault), and said "ahhhh, just a minute while I take this extra jump and give the crowd a reeeeeally good look at me" in Std. Now why couldn't he have 'not' paid attention in JWW and then paid better attention in Std :) The team has growing pains :) Sunday Brook Q'd in JWW with 3rd place, and NQ'd in Std when Jim failed to support a jump. Brook was moving really good all weekend which is just so awesome to see ... Linda said she liked Nash's runs a lot as well. Nash nailed EVERY weave ... yea ... now that's progress !!!!!!!!!!!!

Tulsa, OK Nov 1-2, 2008
Honey & Brenda had a fabulous w/e. Honey got a 2nd and 3rd place in Utility B, no placements in Open. She was all about attitude!!!

Hutchinson, KS Oct 24-26, 2008
Danny & Vicki had a fun weekend!  Danny Q'd in standard on Friday with a 3rd place.  On Saturday they Q'd in Standard with a 2nd place and Q'd in Jumpers with a 3rd place.  On Sunday they Q'd in Standard with a 3rd place. They had some fast awesome runs all weekend.    Vicki indicated that they had received more MACH points this weekend than they ever have.  They have now fulfilled their 3 QQ's with placements for GRCA!  Congratulations Vicki & Danny on a fabulous weekend!
Brook & Jim were running really fast & having fun all weekend. The A-frame yellow zone was too hot for her two of the days, and the other day she decided to take a detour to a trap tunnel (Jim realized he probably should have worked it harder). Brook did qualify all 3 days in JWW with one 1st & two 4th placements ... it is soooo hard to place in the 20" class ... especially JWW ... and there were some really good 20" dogs present. Linda indicates that Brook's jumpers run Sunday was probably one of the smoothest & most efficient of all height classes. Jim had a blast running his fast dog ... and said to Linda on Sunday, "It's always fun to run Brook, but it's REALLY fun when she's fast." Way to go Brook!
Nash & Linda  - Linda indicates she was just thrilled with Nash over the weekend. His weaves are getting more consistent & faster and he is paying closer attention to her. He would have had two more Q's except for his BAD handler who he decided to listen to (GOOD boy). Now that he's paying more attention to Linda, she said her mistakes are even more obvious :) He did have one moment on Friday's JWW course where he took a wide loop just to make sure everyone on the North end of the building was watching (ham!) ... Linda indicated she held her ground and he still made a very hard (now even harder) weave entrance ... Linda said "he just makes me laugh".  They got a QQ on Friday with 2nd place in both classes. That's their 3rd QQ and two of those are with multipliers. They Q'd in JWW yesterday and got 1st place (the only 24" team who survived the course). There were a lot of fabulous 24" dogs, and the class was a good size, but Linda indicated that she was sure having two VERY successful Uncles absent from the class helped our placement results. Linda said "I'm just so proud of my boy".  Congratulations Linda & Nash on an awesome weekend!

Lawrence, KS Oct 17-19, 2008
Storm & Lori did it this weekend!! Lori indicated - Bless his heart, as he didn’t keep her in suspense all weekend and they accomplished MACH3 on Friday with a 1st place in Standard and a 2nd place in Jumpers.
Lori's count - Storm managed to hold our teamwork together nicely all weekend. He MACH3’d on Friday, which is why I was wearing that stupid smile on my face all weekend long. The second half of our QQ on Friday wasn’t a picture perfect run as Storm ALMOST went off course while I frantically waved my arms to get him called back to me. I don’t usually hear anyone talking when I’m running, but I did hear a collective sigh of relief go thru the building.1st in Standard and 2nd in JWW on Friday. QQ #61 on Saturday, with another 1st in Standard. No QQ on Sunday, as someone apparently left the contact equipment sitting out in the sun and the contact zones obviously were too hot to touch.
Bounder
had two QQs for the weekend, but hardly any points as times were pretty tight, and he was not exactly flying through the weaves!  His best runs were on Sunday, where he leapt over the A-frame contact in Standard, and his mother knocked down a jump in JWW. Chase was 4 for 6, with one QQ, and a 1st place in Standard Sunday in a big (40) 20” class. Chase totally saved the run in Jumpers where her mother twisted and turned trying to find where she was on the course – never really succeeding.
Jade had a QQ on Friday and took a 2nd place in Standard on Sunday.  Susan indicated that she was really tickled with Jade as she was giving her a really good effort in the weave poles which is not her favorite obstacle.
Brook had some very nice runs this weekend. They Q'd 4 of 6 runs with one QQ. Sunday's JWW course was especially beautiful. It was quite a tricky course and seemed jerky for many (even those who qualified), but Brook & Jim were very smooth ... several people commented about it (even non-family) which is always very rewarding. They qualified too :)
Nash was the joke of the weekend. Everyone pointed & shook their head at the dog in the crate with his head in a lamp shade. His nick-names ranged from Scoop to Satellite. His escapade chasing a rabbit the week before had him attending the trial sporting the anti-roll/anti-scratch device as well as some meds.  Additionally, he had been outside "on leash" only for 5 straight days. Needless to say, when Linda took him to the first ring on Friday (without the lamp shade of course) and took off his leash, he was pretty pleased with the turn of events. He was in "I'm getting the zoomies" posture for the middle section of the course. It's a little hard to go over a jump and enter the weaves when you have your butt down about ready to launch into the zoomies (Can you get the visual)?  Linda was laughing so hard when he got to the weaves she doubts that she said the word, "weave".  He actually completed the course with only one dropped bar and the missed weave entry ... not too bad, considering :)  They then qualified in JWW earning 4th place ... even though the judge had to stalk Linda and explain that a 'certain' word was not proper agility vocabulary. Well .... exactly what WAS that jump doing in her way when she turned around from executing the front cross! I guess she used her "out loud" voice and her head was saying a 4-letter word. Yikes! (ummmm that would have probably been a better word to use.) They earned their second QQ on Saturday.  Although both were NQ's, our best runs of the weekend were Sunday's courses.  Linda said she thought Nash may have been the only Wakemup dog to get his contacts (well, maybe his Mom did too) [yes, that would be Jade]... unfortunately Nash took the trap jump AFTER he made is dog walk contact - but they sure had fun......
Congratulations to all the Wakemup Crew!

Springfield, MO Oct 18-19, 2008
Honey & Brenda won Utility B both days, and 2nd place in Open B both days. HC on Sat., and HIT and HC on Sunday!!  They also achieved their UDX8 Status!  Congratulations to Brenda & Honey!  Quite Impressive!!!

Enid, OK Oct 10-12, 2008
Tate and friend Karen De Cordova finish Tate's UD with back to back legs out of Utility B!!
Danny has a perfect weekend with QQQ's!!!

New Obedience Stats are out thru Aug 31, 2008 for Honey and Brenda and they are:
Toby-Trigger points earned 8th with 116
High in Trials 4 way tie for 2nd with 11
High Combined 2nd place with 13
OTCH points ranked 9th with 219
And tied at # 28 out of Top 50 OTCH with 22 points

And Bounder & Janet are tied at #19 out of Top 50 OTCH with 30 points

Lincoln, NE  Oct 3-5, 2008
Storm ran very well all weekend. No Q’s on Friday. Lori indicated the standard course was probably one of the toughest courses she had ever personally ran. Lori heard someone mention that it was like a World Team tryout course. Storm did well on it, with only one little mis-cue from Lori. In JWW, Lori indicates they had a “failure by admiration”. On Saturday, they earned QQ #59, with a 1st place in JWW and a 2nd place in Standard.
Brook was very cute & fast over the weekend. She's definitely starting to give Jim a reason to do more work on his treadmill. She was a little naughty a time or two, and Jim missed a couple of cues for her, but they still managed to qualify in JWW twice & Standard once ... unfortunately, not on the same day!
Nash - Linda indicated that something happened that she didn't think had ever happened before. Nash qualified on a course the Brook did not qualify on. They qualified in JWW on Friday and Standard on Saturday. However, Linda's favorite run was Sunday's standard run where she felt they were very connected as a team. Unfortunately, Linda said she failed to support one jump, so they did not qualify ... they did get all the tricky parts though :)   Way to go!
Bounder - Janet agreed with Lori about the standard course on Friday being the hardest that she remembered. Even though Bounder did Q, Janet said it was ugly, ugly, ugly! Janet thought it would be a good course to set up and break down into sections to work on in practice. Janet indicated that all of the courses were very challenging – she felt lucky to have come out with some Q’s.
Congratulations to everyone who attended Lincoln!!!

Stats thru July 31, 2008 for Honey and Brenda are:
Toby-Tigger Points Earned 5th - 109 points
OTCH points earned 9th - 197 points
High In Trials Tied for 3rd with 10
High Combined 1st with 13!!!!

Also, drumroll.....

Mr. Bounder and Janet
are in a 4 way tie for 27th in top 50 goldens with stats being calculated from July 1 through July 31, 2008. Zing is one of the dogs that Bounder is tied with!!

Lawrence, KS - Sept 20-21, 2008

Bounder finished his OTCH on Sunday in Lawrence by winning Utility B, and added bonus (security) points by winning Open B as well. They ended up with 106.  Bounder also won HIT and HC both days (since no other Wakemup dogs were there…Janet's words!).  Janet said it was obviously a good weekend for them… They were showing on the very surface where they show in agility, so Bounder was quite at home!

Congratulations Janet & Bounder - what an accomplishment!!!

Granger, IA - Sept 19 - 21, 2008
Brook was silly in the ring and Jim not well focused on Friday. Brook & Jim managed to qualify in JWW on Friday & Saturday, then a QQ on Sunday. Brook was running really nice ALL weekend.
Nash & Linda qualified in Standard on Sunday. Nash would have qualified in JWW too, but Linda said she unintentionally celebrated too soon and caused the LAST bar to drop. A huge groan from the crowd clued her in ... that is quite the stomach sinking feeling! Linda indicated that the good news was that they did THAT well.  Linda said she was very pleased with his effort over the weekend.
Storm had very nice runs all weekend. Even though they only Q’d in JWW twice, Lori still thought he did an outstanding job. They had one error each day in Standard. Lori indicated on Sunday she gives entirely to him. He missed the A-frame contact and Lori was standing still! It wasn’t quite one of his famous Superman leaps from the top, but it was very obvious.  Even with the NQ’s, it was still a fun weekend.

Lawrence, KS  - Sept 12-14, 2008
Danny Q'd in Jumpers on Friday and QQ'd on Sunday with a 4th place in Standard!! Vicki indicated her goal with Dan is for him to just run -- if he jumps contacts so be it. He did jump the A-frame on Friday and dogwalk on Saturday,Vicki didn't care as he was running with a big grin!! On Sunday she asked him to do the contacts and he did, what a boy!!!

Splash got a blue ribbon in jumpers on Friday for his 2nd JWW leg!! Vicki was so excited!! On Saturday Splash got another blue ribbon in Standard and finished his AX title!!! In jumpers Vicki indicated she sent him to the wrong obstacle. On Sunday there was one dropped bar in each class -- but he was just looking so good, and Vicki was pumped, especially after the jumpers run!!

Storm and Lori were searching for QQ’s #59 and #60 this weekend, but Lori indicated that they couldn’t seem to find them.  They did have some awesome runs - Friday Storm placed 4th in JWW, 15 seconds under SCT.  Saturday he placed 3rd in Standard, 17 seconds under SCT.  On Sunday, Lori indicated Storm had what she felt was one of his best Standard runs, until he missed the dog walk contact by about 2” (Lori said she is not taking the blame for this one! It’s all his!!). JWW was a 2nd place with 16 points.

Bounder was 5 for 6 for the weekend, placing 3rd and 4th on Sunday in the 24” class. His weaves were slower than normal, but Janet said he was a good boy otherwise!  Chase QQ;d on Friday!!!

Omaha, NE - Sept 12-14, 2008
Nash news first for once. Linda & Nash qualified in JWW which was their 10th leg and his MXJ title ... yea! Nash is now Wakemup Sea Nash Run MX MXJ OF. It was a tricky course too. Linda says they were agonizingly close to a QQ, but in Standard he came barreling out of a tunnel faster than she thought he would which put him further out than she had expected and a poor handling choice on her part (Linda's words) put her in slightly the wrong spot to recover which sent Nash around the tire instead of through it :( At least Linda said she was able to warn Jim to handle that a different way [which worked much better]. The rest of the weekend was full of nice runs, most VERY close to a Q, but Linda said she was going to blame ALL of it on handling errors caused by her inability to run normally on the soggy turf :) THE best news ... Nash nailed 8 of 9 weave poles & she blames the one he didn't get on the wet, slippery turf causing Nash's inability to collect properly to get his entry.

Brook & Jim Q'd 5 of 6 runs getting four 1st and one 2nd placements ... with Jim causing the only error yesterday, a knocked bar. She had her 2nd fastest [YPS] JWW run today (her previous fastest was Rochester, 2 weeks ago). They accumulated 110 points .. their best ever point weekend. What can you say ... they just keep getting better & better it seems!!!

Elk City, OK - Sept 6-7, 2008

"Tate" was shown this past weekend by Karen and he is now a one legged Utility B dog.   They took 3rd place on Sunday with a 195.5.  Way to go Tater!!!  Benden's Wakemup For School CDX

Omaha, NE - Sept 7, 2008
Nash & Linda attended one day of the NADAC trial in Omaha and brought home a new title - NAC.  It was a cool cloudy day ... almost perfect for agility except the grass was a little damp from morning fog. Linda managed to create a straight path to all the contact obstacles, so they were safe. Linda indicated it's kind of hard to have a dog who runs Excellent AKC in a Novice class, but kind of fun too. Linda indicated she was very pleased with how they did. Nash qualified in both 'Regular' classes as well as Touch N Go, getting one 1st and two 2nd placements [Gerianne Darnell & Rick (Border Collie) beat us twice and we beat them once]. They are actually in Open for Jumpers. Linda said they came close on that course, but Nash came in tighter than she  thought he would when she  layered a jump while he was doing a pinwheel with a tunnel trap ... actually good on his part that he listened so well, bad handler for not trusting him more :) Nash continues to show more maturity by staying more focused on me and the obstacles ... yea! Linda said that they had fun :)

Rochester, MN - Labor Day Weekend
Brook achieved the goal Jim had set for them for this year. They QQ'd all 3 days at the Rochester, MN trial, earning her 100th QQ yesterday. They had beautiful runs all weekend, finishing just out of the placements all weekend at a very large trial against some really good teams.
Nash & Linda qualified all 3 days in JWW.  He now needs only 1 more JWW leg for his MXJ title. Linda says that thtey were "oh so close" in Standard Saturday & yesterday ... but for one handler error each day that Nash did not compensate for. For all their runs Linda said she was EXTREMELY pleased with Nash's focus & drive, especially given the conditions ... nice weather, but hotter than Nash likes for sure, and showing in the sun with lots of spectators walking waaaaay too close to roped off rings.   Way to go Team Nelsons!!!

Honey & Brenda did it again with limited showing - Ranked in the obedience statistics.....
Tied for 7th with Toby-Tigger Points Earned
8th in Earned OTCH Points
3rd in High In Trials with 8 ribbons!!!
2nd with High Combineds with 11 ribbons!!!
9th in the Top 50 Goldens................................... Stats are through June 30th, 2008

Topeka KS August 14-17, 2008
Brook earns her CDX on Sat Aug 16th under Judge Helen Smith with a 4th place.  Brook & Linda get an insurance leg with a 1st place on Sunday toboot!  Way to go Brookie & Linda.
Splash takes 1st in Open B in a huge class on Thursday.
Bounder wins the Utility B class on Thursday and takes takes 3rd in the Utility B class on Sunday for his 2nd UDX leg for the weekend.
Honey won Utility B on Friday and got HIT after winning runoffs for 1st in Utility and HIT.

Omaha NE  July 18-20, 2008
Nash earns his MX title.  Nash also picks up his 6th MXJ leg.  What a thrill for Linda.  They also had some "Wow" moments throughout the rest of the weekend.
Brook Cute story that occurred before the trial started. Jim asked Linda what she wanted for her birthday. Linda contemplated a bit and said, "she wanted to run Brook". Jim replied, "that's kind of expensive isn't it"? So, Linda agreed that Jim could run her, but if Brook's first run of the day was not a Q, then Linda would run her the 2nd run of the day.
Well, Brook let Linda down in that, she Q'd every run on the weekend EXCEPT her last run of the weekend, so Linda  didn't get to run her at all. She had some really nice runs, earning one 3rd & one 4th placement in a very large 20" class (50-60 dog class size).
Storm had a perfect Q-rate over the weekend, earning QQ’s #56, 57 & 58!! His ribbon count was three 1st, one 2nd, one 3rd, and one 4th. All the ribbons, including the qualifying and QQ ribbons are rosettes.
Congratulations to everyone!!!

Oklahoma City, OK June 27-30, 2008
Splash now has his CDX, went 4 for 4 this weekend in Open B. Received 2 second placements, 1 first!!!! and in a HIT runoff with Brenda and Honey!!!, and was in a 3 way runoff for 3rd on Sunday and we got 4th!!! Vicki was just tickled with Splash!!! Vicki said he just tried his little heart out for her and she couldn't have asked for more. What a boy Splash  is!!!  Vicki also indicated that Brenda was an exceptional person as in the HIT runoff--Splash and Vicki should have been first as you go in by ring number. The judge wasn't going to let the first person know what the heeling pattern was going to be so Brenda stepped into the ring and ran it first with Honey so Vicki could see the pattern. Vicki didn't know this as she was in the hallway playing with Splash to keep him "up" for the heeling. A ring steward called her in so she could watch. Vicki indicated that that was just exceptionally nice!!! Vicki indicated that they were perfection in heeling -- and how she  loves watching them -- and Splash and she were close!!
Honey won Utility B on Friday with a 199 and HIT, she NQ'd in Open, went around a jump on the way back with the dumbell. Brenda indicated that they had to do an exhibition in the breed rings downstairs, they were finishing groups and getting ready for BIS.  It was nervewracking, Brenda indicated she should have more faith in her girl, she has never let her down, and she didn't then either. They did signals and it was lovely. What a relief!!! On Saturday, Honey won Utility with a 198 under Gene Norman, he said "that was lovely".  Brenda & Honey got 2nd in Open to Vicki and Splash, they won with a 198, so a tie for HIT ensued.  They also were High Combined on Sat. On Sunday Honey won Utility again, yippee, and got 2nd in Open with a 198.5.  Brenda indicated it was a very good score for them in Open, saying it was not their strong suit. So they were High Combined on Sunday. Brenda indicated that they have been wracking up some pts. the last 2 weekends in the hopes that it is enough to keep them in the top 25 all Breed. Brenda said most of all they had had fun!!!

*******************************************************************************************
Big drum roll -- Honey and Brenda are ranked in the top 25 all breed!!! WOW!!! And that is done with very limited showing!!!! Congratulations Brenda & Honey!!!
*******************************************************************************************

Lawrence KS - Kansas City Golden Retriever Club June 21-22, 2008
Naughty placed in Sweepstakes both days with heavy competition. She also won Am-bred both days!!! What a good girl Naughty is..........
Honey & Brenda won Open B and Utility B both days, also HIT and HC both days!!!
Danger got her 1st CDX leg and Beth said she was very cute and she was very proud of her.....
Brook & Linda got their 2nd CDX leg.  It was a 1st place among all the Goldens from the Open A class and it was a 2nd place among all breeds.  Linda said that Brook was very animated, silly & cute, even though we sacrificed 'precision' to achieve that :)
Splash & Vicki made their debut in Open B and they received a 198 & 2nd place!! What a way to make a splash with Splash!!!  On Sunday he was equally cute but didn't drop as soon as Vicki wanted him to so she double commanded it.

Ames, IA - May 31, June 1, 2008
Brook qualified in JWW on Sunday with a very nice run. According to Linda - Jim's words were Brook was handler challenged!
Nash qualified in Standard on Saturday earning 2nd place. We were one of two 24" qualifiers!

Honey and Brenda are ranked 6th in High Combined's from the Golden 2008 Obedience Stats!!!

Lawrence - Triune Agility May 23-25, 2008
Storm - Qualified in Jumpers all 3 days with Blue Ribbons and brought home 86 MACH points.  Lori indicated this was funny, because the weekend before in Lincoln, they could only qualify in Standard. Lori indicated he's so much fun to run, and she's 100'% positive our Standard problems this weekend were because of some unfortunate handler issues!
Brook & Jim Qualified 5 of 6 runs for a total of 48 MACH points earned.

Lincoln NE Agility May 16-18, 2008
Brook & Jim started the weekend off in their typical style and achieved the title of MACH 3
They needed 15 points going into the weekend, and ran 15 seconds under SCT ... just enough for the MACH run to occur immediately after the run thanks to friend/coach/instructor Tammie Gigstad yelling out MACH after hovering over the manual time keeper's shoulder. They ended up in 2nd place behind Sara & Odie for 22 MACH points. They qualified two more times in JWW for 35+ points toward MACH4 ...
Thoughts from Linda  "Thanks to all of the Wakemup family & extended dog family for making last weekend extra special. It was so fun to have family staying with us and helping celebrate; team Lori/Storm who were at the agility trial ... team Vicki/Splash/Danny & Susan/Dixie who were at the seminar with me. Brenda, Janet, Doug & Rich by phone, Beth by voice mail :) Extended dog family Sally/Bang & Sara/Odie were there to cheer us on and make it even more special. Isn't agility fun fun fun !
Storm and Lori took two 1st placements and one 2nd placements.  They are now 6 QQ's away from MACH3.  They were glad to be there to celebrate Jim and Brook's MACH 3.

Storm made the Top 25 for Lifetime Agility Rankings by points----not too shabby for a Midwestern boy who doesn't trial very often.

Storm had a PennHIP exam done at 6 years old and the results were outstanding!

Omaha NE Agility May 9-11, 2008
Brook & Jim had another marvelous weekend, Q'ing 5 of 6 runs with three1st, two 2nd & one 3rd placement for 81 points. The MACH3 countdown is now 15 points needed.  Another weekend in NE coming up!!!
Nash & Linda  got their first QQ.  Linda indicated that the thought of that seems so unfathomable that she didn't even realize it at first. Bonus ... it was with placements in both classes. For the weekend Team Nash Nelson Q'd 4 of 6 runs. We got one 1st, one 2nd & two 3rd placements accumulating 43 points (he now has one QQ & 134 points). Linda says Nash seems to be thinking harder and that is a good sign ... she thinks :)

BDOC Agility, Omaha NE  - May 2-4, 2008
Brook had her best weekend ever. She & Jim qualified 5 of 6 runs (her 91st QQ) earning 93MACH points, with placements on every run; three 1st, one 2nd & one 3rd.
Nash & Linda qualified in Standard on Saturday with a 1st place ribbon (their first from the ExB classes). There were no other 24" qualifiers and only 3 qualifiers from the 20" class. They also qualified on Sunday in JWW.

Grove OK - April 26-27, 2008
Honey won Open B and Utility B both Saturday and Sunday, and HIT and HC both days. Brenda admitted she kept pinching herself to see if she would wake up! On Sunday Honey also Q'd in Utility with 196.5 points for 1st place despite her maniac behaviors!

Seward NE - April 26-27, 2008
Bounder finished the requirements for his UDX on Saturday in Seward. Yeah Bounder! And we hear there was some OTCH points as well.....
Brook finished her Ralley Excellent title. Brook also qualified in Open A with a 194.5 and first place. This is her first CDX leg.

**Just in from the AKC TopDogs sm in Agility MACH Competition for Retrievers (Golden) dated 4/21/08 for the period of Jan 1, 08 through April 21, 08.**
Janet's Chase is #14 in QQ and #19 in points, Bounder #19 in QQ's.  Brook is #35 in QQ's & #30 in points  Linda indicates  that she thinks it may be a first that Ms. Brook is ranked higher in points than in QQ's though.

Kansas City, MO  April 18-20, 2008
Splash Q'd for his 2nd Excellent Standard leg with a blue ribbon!
Danny Qualified in Excellent JWW!
Storm had a 50% Q rate, but the highlight of the weekend was winning both classes on Saturday for his
54th QQ.
Nash & Linda had some very nice runs ... qualified in Standard on Saturday getting 3rd place. This was our fastest YPS qualifying run to date (in Standard). That makes for MX leg #5 and a total of 70 MACH points.
Brook & Jim had some very nice runs ... qualified 4 of 6 runs with a QQ on Sunday.
Bounder qualified 4 of their 6 runs with a Q in Jumpers on Friday, a QQ on Saturday and a Q in
Jumpers on Sunday.
Chase had a QQ on Friday and a Q in Jumpers on Sunday.

Grove, OK April 12-13, 2008
Honey won HIT and HC on Sunday in Grove!

Wichita Falls, TX April 11-13, 2008
Danny got to run on Friday and Sunday and he was just so cute! He would have had QQ's but for his handler in Standard. He did receive 2 - 4th place ribbons for JWW!  Splash and I are not quite there as a team but he was running fast all weekend!

AKC Agility Nationals: Mar 28-30, 2008 - Tulsa, OK
Brook finished 10th in the 24" class in Friday's ISC Competition. Since the A-frame contact zone was way too low for Brook's criteria, that is our only brag from the Nationals this year :(

March 14-16 2008 Granger IA
Brook ran fast all weekend and Q'd in jumpers twice and standard once with two 2nd places.  Word has it that Jim needed to pick up the pace a bit....  They were back in the 24" class preparing for the AKC Agility Nationals later this month in Tulsa.  Several Wakemup dogs will be attending.
Nash was running confident, paying good attention, had nice drive and was trying very hard.  There were several brilliant moments throughout the weekend.  There was a Qualifying round in Jumpers for their 2nd MXJ leg!  Linda says the most brilliant moment was in the Exc FAST class where Nash correctly executed the Send which was to enter a tunnel using the hardest entry opening, out of the tunnel past the entry opening, on to the teeter, then over a jump - - and this was done with Linda being 15' away and trying to pick up her jaw up off the ground because she was shocked that he did it.  (Shame on Mom for not trusting her dog)  They were only 2 seconds over time so an NQ - but a fabulous run!

March 14-16 2008 Carthage MO
Bounder  ran very well in Carthage, MO qualifying 5 of 6 times in the ring and for the first time edging out older sister Chase by a second on a couple of runs.
Chase - Honorary Wakemup Status - achieves MACH2.  Janet & Chase decided to just get this out of the way on their 1st day in Carthage.  What an awesome two runs for this accomplishment.  Janet always looks so calm and confident!

March 7-9 2008 Garden City
Splash made his debut in the Obedience ring and what a site it must have been!  Team Vicki & Splash had a 198, 197.5, 198.5 for 3 firsts and his title!!  On Friday with the 198 he received High In Trial.
Bounder earned 2 more UDX legs over the weekend. Chase earned 2 more QQ's with two 1st
places in agility.
Honey won Utility both days with 198's, won Open B on Sunday with a 199, and High in Trial and High Combined both days.
